Fidelity is Forever

When we became a full-pledge member, we take the Oath: "...do solemnly swear, to do honor and abide by the Constitution and by-laws of the AKP..." Then we pledged to "...faithfully and truly perform my duty, to uphold and promote the objectives of the AKP..." And we ask God for His assistance for the upcoming endeavors.

Objectively, we made ourselves committed to the ideals of the Fraternity, and subjectively, we bind ourselves to fulfill our duties as one of the brothers used to say: "Our obligation to the Fraternity is a lifetime commitment!". True, but what we need TODAY is Fidelity to what we take Oath!

Fidelity probes each WORTH. It is a matter of great importance for each one of us in achieving our GOALS, in upholding our OBJECTIVES and in keeping our COMMITMENTS as well. Without fidelity, we aren't worth anything at all.

We are what we are committed to... Longlive!

Since we have committed ourselves to the Ideals of the Alpha Kappa Rho, therefore, we have committed ourselves to the SERVICES of the Fraternity and Sorority, for we are born into The Alpha Kappa Rho FAMILY in order to SERVE regardless of our status, etc.. Thus, Loyalty and Fidelity.. is highly recommended.

Our Committed Services toward The Hierarchy is what our Fraternity and Sorority is all about: "We are what we are committed to", says a Jesuit Priest, "and without commitment we are nothing. "Because in a fundamental sense, our commitment defines us.

Our Commitment is geared up to make us a better person, a humanitarian in the process. We tend to love God, first and foremost, in all corners of our lives and everything should be coordinated to it as orderly, thats GOD-Country-Family-School/Community-Fraternity.

We can make a difference in this world if we keep it well. But if we make commitment, failed to keep it, that would say a lot about The Fraternity and Sorority we have.

We can feel miserable sometimes when we look at those brothers and sisters who did not bring anything to the commitment, especially, those who failed to realize what our commitment is all about.

We can bring time or money or talent or anything to the commitment: we can spend time with the councils and help them promoting Goodwill. We can donate money or canned goods or rice or used clothing to help provide our brothers and sisters in their "Bundles of Joy Projects" or in their "Prison Visit Program" because we want to be a part of it. We can donate blood for a brother or sister in confinement and for our "Bloodletting Project" because we still have much to give. We can make sacrifices and say a lot of prayers for the conversion of our deliquent members and for those who are in need, for this is the only thing we can bring to the COMMITMENT. Our donation brings us together with our brothers and sisters in their projects. In that way, we are still united with our commitment and we are still committed with them in our Services.

Our Loyalty and Fidelity has to be nurtured and our Commitment has to be understood: That it is all about Love towards God and neighbors. That it is all about Service, in His Name, and to the least of the people. Since our commitment has to be permanent, Our Fidelity to what we have committed would also make our lives fulfilled.

Keeping our commitments shall always keep us "Alive". Our Loyalty and Fidelity, shall always keep the fire burning... "The burning fire of the Alpha Kappa Rho."

May the Lord bless our almighty Alpha Kappa Rho always... Longlive!

Longlive Humanitarians!

Mother Teresa have touched the world through her missionary works among the poor. Because of such dedication, a journalist ask her: "Why devote so much time with these people, why not pray instead for the world peace?" She answered, "I shall pray for the peace of the world,
but for the main time allow me to nurse them."

Touched as I am, I have shared this sentiment to the class quoting: "If there's anything better in life than to be Loved... It is Loving." Then I presented before them an Art, featuring the poor and needy, to remind them of the people we often neglected and deliberately ignored.

In the hope of moving the hearts to compassion, I had roamed around, getting along with the people that sleeps in the sideways, on the overpasses and in the alleys so I could get my picture of their deprived life. One couldn't help but pity, but it takes a compassionate heart to feel them in their miseries.

In our sad world of so much poverty, and so much need, there is a great need for us to share them what we have to make them feel that they are Loved. We can give food to the homeless that sleeps in the alleys at nights. We can give bundles-of -joys to the people that lives in the dumpsites, or conduct a feeding activity with the poor community like those in the slums. We have to be involved with the poor and with those who do not have as much as we have. Isn't our goal is to become a
brother to all?

I can be a little more concerned for the poor and needy among us. I don't have to be fighting all the time. Rivalry doesn't make sense. What is power, influence when the glory is vain? We can try to love the way Christ loved. We can be more gentle and forgiving. We don't have to be fighting all the time. We can turn ourselves around and begin to think about other people and what they need. And not just be concerned with ourselves all the time.

Gandhi said one time that we can all begin to be happy only when we realize that "every man is my brother, every woman is my sister." Christ said, "Whatever you did to the least of my brothers, you
did it for Me." and so Mother Teresa have ended up the question when she told the journalist saying: "Why don't you do something beautiful for God?" Maybe that is the challenge for us all to realize our goal especially for this Christmas season . Why dont we do something beautiful for God - and for the poor?

Lastly, Let us be reminded of what St.Francis of Assisi is wont to say: "If there's any goodness that i can do, or any kindness that i can show. Let me do it now, for I shall never pass this way again." And so my dear brothers, while we have time. Let us do good!

For The Greater Honor and Glory...Love shall be our strength! Longlive!

Imploring the aid of the devine providence in order to build a just and humane society and establish Alpha Kappa Rho that shall embody our ideas and aspirations to promote to our selves Service, Love, Brotherhood that will foster Truth, Peace, Equality, and unity among us that will lead directly to welfare of our Fraternity, Sorority, Family, Community, and Country do ordain and promulgate this Constitution and by Laws. The Merging of the OMEGA and ZETA UPSILON

In 1976 the merging of OMEGA Fraternity and Sorority of San Sebastian College and ZETA UPSILON Fraternity of U.E. (University of the East) Recto with the ALPHA KAPPA RHO (AKRHO) Intercollegiate Service Fraternity and Sorority mark the beginning of the growth of ALPHA KAPPA RHO. The population of AKP commenced in greater numbers, expanding aggressively in massive members welcomed and much stronger than any other fraternities in the U-Belt (University Belt) area. The word AKRHO was established and among those being feared by rival fraternities.[2]

The growth of the AKP in 1975 was because of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth with the coherent full cooperation, strong powers and determinations of our brothers and sisters of F.E.U. (Far Eastern University), P.S.B.A. (Philippine School of Business Administration) and N.C.B.A. (National College of Business and Arts) and San Sebastian College chapters with the help of the High School Skeptrons headed by Bro JUN "LABO" Pasaporte then called the DELTA KAPPA RHO of Junior Skeptrons.

These five mentioned universities were the key factors in the growth of the ALPHA KAPPA RHO (AKRHO) Intercollegiate Service Fraternity and Sorority. Bro Jun "Labo" Pasaporte devoted his time and life for AKRHO. He died in July 17, 2003 at age 45 in Manila, Philippines.

In addition to the adaption of the ALPHA KAPPA RHO Sorority, other fraternities and sororities with the same thoughts and feelings as that of the ALPHA KAPPA RHO at that time merged with it. From these mergers evolved one practice which becomes the hallmark of our group.

For one, the noble, the traditional hand mark and its handclasp was a covenant agreed by our foreleaders from both ALPHA KAPPA RHO and the Omega Fraternity and Sorority, Inc. Reresented by our OFSI Brothers from San Sebastian College, Bro Alex Ramirez, Bro Dennie Ravarra, Bro Alex Mangubat, to name a few, and together with the Officers of the founding Members and the Officers of ALPHA KAPPA RHO, they signed pledge for and in behalf of each other’s group. This merge which happened in September 1976 at Rancho, Marikina (then a municipality) was momentous for to this day we carry in our hands the mark of synthesis, the handclasp that set a strong bond and true unity under one name, the ALPHA KAPPA RHO.

The Awakening Era of AKRHO 888

In August 8, 2008, exactly 35 years since the fraternity was established, the first National Convention was held at Amaranto Stadium, Quezon City which was attended by more than a thousand members from the Philippines and abroad. The first National Supreme Council was likewise established.

Soon after, under the guidance of the Founding ALPHA KAPPA RHO brothers, the ALPHA KAPPA RHO Sorority was likewise established. With smart and friendly Sister such as Sis Marissa Cumuyog, the late Sis Jayjay Aquino, Sis Alda Altiveros, Sis Girlie Tesoro, Sis Grace Mendoza, Sis Jay Mercado and Sis Irene Ileto, they formed the first Sorority Members of the ALPHA KAPPA RHO in University of Santo Tomas.
